I think I felt the same way as you do, about a year ago, though I have had a half-assed SS system for ~5 years. With good DVD's it can become addictive.Anyway, I have a current Sony WS RPTV, and it puts out a huge amount of noise into the line. So much it should be illegal. That's what you get with switching power supplies when the manufacturer doesn't care...there are no regs for this. My Sony computer monitor puts out zero noise into the line, so they can fix it if they want. All I can suggest is a good conditioner on your audio gear, mine keeps the TV noise out of everything plugged into it. Or a good conditioner _just_ for the TV, some of the computer type filters are good enough, an APC one seems to help here, you can do better. Also try putting your TV on a separate AC circuit, even better if that circuit is on the other AC phase from your audio gear. I will try some various clamp-on ferrite chokes on my TV power cord and will let you know if that helps.
