Not really. It's about pricing. See my post below.I presume you are speaking of the new copy protection schemes and the fact that incompatibility issues may result in "down-rezing" some content from 1080i to 480p max resolution???
While I curse the greedy studio bozos for making the HDTV roll out more confusing than it needs to be, nothing is happening yet on this front, it will not affect your OTA reception (which is what you have with the onboard ATSC SONY tuner, this will affect set top boxes), and moreover, there will probably be a fix for the thousands of HDTVs already sold.
If you are talking about 720p vs 1080i from network HD feeds, then I apologize.
Suggest you go the the HD duscussions at avsforum.com where you will learn more than you ever wanted to know about the subject.
