Yes, mine does that sometimes, what i think is that when the satellite signal drops a little, the receiver can't 'lock-on' to all 5 channels and it reverts to stereo briefly. Much like a receiver will go into mono mode if the stereo signal gets weak. Check your signal strength. Bear in mind though that the only 5.1 signals being broadcast are newer movies showing on premium channels.
