I appreciate the help -- buying in Japan and dealing with the warranty issue doesn't bother me much (I've bought my laptop this way along with several pieces of Accuphase gear). Given the price differential, I am willing to ship a problem unit back to Japan if need be. (In fact, for the amount I saved on my accuphase gear alone I could fly back to Tokyo and stay there if the gear needed repair and still have money leftover!).
