Hi Karen: There are a number of websites. Start with Stereophile's Guide to Home Theatre. Go to www.stereophile.com and you will find a link there. Also try the link at the bottom. Check out the FAQ & basic info sections.But setup is a major part of any HT system. Are you comfortable with hooking up electronics? If so, then you can set up a decent system on your own. However, if you are like most people, then your best bet is to find a decent store that does the delivery & setup.
I would suggest buying some of the magazines on the market, just to get a feel for what is out there.
To answer your last question, yes the Toshiba is decent.
