You should be able to adjust overscan through the user or service menus. This is fairl common in direct view TVs to one degree or another..

Hometheaterspot.com has a Sony forum, and there is lots of info at hometheaterforum.com and avsdorum.com - the latter has a UK/Europe site as well, which may be more useful to you. US doesn't have your particular model available, the only Sony 16:9 widescreen on market here is the 34XBR800, which is comparable to a UK 36" 16:9
