Try pluggin in a digital multi meter in the socket and see what's going on with the mains voltage, the next time the monitor decides to take a dump.
If you're handy I suggest eight looney bins to the right and one up.
Tweakers offers the Jon Risch Filter Surge Sup. That has been compared the monster stuff and wins hands down every time. It's a DIY project. Rather simple to build with some basic Elect. knowledge.
