Why have a special (rarely used) room?

I continue to be perplexed about -

* those who have top audio in one room and HT in another. If you like fine audio then you will hear it on movies, documentaries, broadcast TV, ... Have a combined system.

* those who try to emulate the set up in a commercial movie house - YUK, just what I want to avoid. The sound is usually ghastly and the pic may not be much better
