We have basically the setup you have and it is not too difficult to retain uncorrupted 2 CH.The wiring will depend on the receiver used.
Situation 1: You can plug into the main stereo signal out of the preamp section of the receiver (i.e. before going to the main stereo amp of the receiver). This will mean you do not use the main 2 CH amp of the receiver.
All you need is a quality 2 pole (one pole for left CH, the other for right), 2 throw (position 1 & position 2) switch box.
Left channel of the main stereo amp -> (Position 1) left ch out of Krell preamp
OR
-> (position 2) goes to the main left preamp channel outs of your receiver.Ditto for Right channel
The second Krell output goes to the input of the receiver (or use quality "Y" connectors if there is only one stereo output from the Krell - amounts to the same thing).
If you switch to "position 1" then the Krell output goes direct to the 2 CH amp while the signal to the receiver will only feed the rear & centre channels. This is easily killed by switching the receiver off.
If you switch to "position 2" then no signal goes direct to your main stereo amp, it goes through the receiver -> dolby surround etc.
Situation 2: You cannot access the receiver main signal out
Still use a switch box as described above except now it is a speaker switch and takes signals from your main amp in position 1 but from the receiver amp in position 2. i.e. your receiver is not used in position 1 and your main amp is not used in position 2.
In your position I would try to find a receiver to use situayioon 1 on the assumption your main amp will be better than one in the receiver.
Have fun
John
