Hi,I'm looking for a DVD player that can handle region-1/NTSC, region-2/PAL, and region-4/NTSC discs.
After searching on the internet, I came across this Philips DVD724 player, but I'm confused about it, since the information I got from different sources is a little bit contradictory.
First of all... are the "DVD724" and the "DVD724AT" actually just two slightly different labels for the same player? Or is one a newer version of the other?
One website advertises the "DVD724" for $249.99, describing it as having all compatibility features I want. Here's the link.

Another website advertises the "DVD724AT" for $129.99, but the description is very shallow. Here's the link.

A third website has some discussion on this DVD724/DVD724AT player, but I found that a bit confusing. Here's the link.

Finally, I got completely confused when I came across a downloadable PDF version of the user's manual for the "DVD724". It explicitely says that it plays only region-1 and region-ALL discs. Here's the link.

So, now I'm totally confused. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me on this. Is the cheap "DVD724AT" at Amazon.com the same thing as the "DVD724" that handles any DVD (regions 1,2,3,4,5,6) PAL or NTSC?
Is the text in the user's manual just a cheap trick to fool the software companies? Do I have to play any other trick with the remote (like a hidden/secret code) in order to play region-2 and region-4 DVDs?
Thanks in advance.
Best,
Max
