No, it doesn't accept 420p, 720p, or 1080i input. I have the 27fv16 and I already tried this. Sony wants you to cough up the cash for the XBR series if you want progressive scan capability, even though the tubes in both series are exactly the same (the only difference is $10 worth of silicon).
