Samsung HCM4216 takes on the Toshiba 42H82 projection TV battle !

OK.

I'm a 100% audiophile with absolutely no training or common sense for Video. My significant other has been asking me to replce our much worn out 25" table-top TV, so, like an audiophile, I figure if I'm gonna do this, I must at least try to do it halfway right. My obsevations have been that a picture tube is STILL the best view, but highe quality tube TVs are getting expensive, I decided to make a comprimise and investigate the projection TV thing. For the most part, I am generally unimpressed with projection as it looks grainy and undefined, but does offer a big screen which I think could become acceptable over time ( and perhaps a line-doubler thrown in somewhere down the road for good measure )

I naturally flocked to the Toshiba brand as I have had many a Toshiba in the past and they always get good reviews in terms of value. I checked out the 42H82 which is a 42" screen for $2,399.00 Canadian and though hmmmmmmmmm, not bad, but not great either. I then was drawn to the other side of the room for a look at the Samsung HCM4216 which I thought had a much better picture overall, closer to that of a tube design and a nice cabinet, better overall features and was a few hundred bucks less. Now I must admit, I have a prejudice against off-shore brands, a mentality that goes back many years, but dammit, I couldn't argue with the picture quality and a better warranty to boot.

My question?

Has anyone had any experience with this TV as I can find no consumer advice on it whatsoever.

Should I stay clear?

Is there something I am overlooking?
