Composite video uses a single 75ohm coax to carry the entire video signal while componet video requires 3 75ohm coax cables...one for red, one for blue, and one for green and the h/v sync.

If your monitor has BNC connectors you can simply purchase BNC to RCA adaptors [Radio Shack sells them, so does Tributaries] or buy cables with RCA's at one end and BNC at the other.
