Re: mental midget needs help!

Regarding question #1- Does the TV have a setting for fixed or variable output control? If so set it for fixed and if possible, turn OFF the speakers on the TV! It sounds like your TV volume is just too low going into the HT receiver.
Regarding #2- Use the Y-adaptor and hook up both subs to the one subwoofer output. Check that your HT receiver is set to output sound to the subs (main, rear and center should be set to "small" in the parameters) and enjoy (hint: because the sound going to both subs in mono, you can place them anywhere in the room for the flatest response!).
