I just got a Panasonic RP56 DVD player for my bedroom and would like to add sound on a very limited budget. My more serious stereo is downstairs--this is just for DVD, including concert videos. I figure $200 now and $100-150 in a month or so. I'm thinking of the following options:- RCA RT2500 one-box receiver/speaker combo. There are still a few around for under $200.
- Start with a Promedia 4.1 (refurbished, they're $150). That will give me stereo. Then add a DD 5.1 processor and a center speaker.
- Get a receiver for under $200 and a pair of speakers (Polk R15?). Add rears, center, and sub as I can. Suggestions for a cheap but OK receiver?
Any other strategies? Thanks for your suggestions.
