Hi,HT Projectors usually have video processing chips which are useful for scaling incoming video signals to the screen size of projectors. For this and other reasons, HT projectors are best for hooking up the DVD player.
I have a data projector with an s-video imput. It does a reasonably OK job when I connect my DVD player up to it, but not great. For best results, I run the DVD in my computer, let the dvd software do all the scaling/processing while my computer is attached to projector using the monitor connector. This seems to give better results. If you have good external speakers for your computer, this can be a pretty good way to use a data projector for watching movies. My projector has 1024X768 resolution.
