You don't say what your budget is, or your gear. The short answer, without more info, is optical is good if the cable is made from glass--not plastic--otherwise coax is better. That's my opinion.
Do some research on this topic, because it's been asked many times before.
Ultimately you just might have to try both to see what your own ears tell you.
