Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

I have seen the problem occasionally. My cure . . .

was making sure the device was absolutely level and mechanically isolated, though I understand that isn't always the problem. As I understand it, the out of balance/vibration causes mistracking and the error correction routine freezes the device momentarily.

Now. To be honest . . . this explanation may be totally specious. I would suspect Joe Murphy, Jr., if he is about, could shed more and better light on the topic. However, this has always worked in my consultations.

Do not confuse this with momentary halts at layer change . . . a totally different issue.
