to be used with a 2ch amp when listening to music. Currently have no upgrade path from current units. No pre-outs on low-fi Sony A/V. Trying to lay out an upgrade path is like wrestling with a many-headed snake. As soon as I research one area to my satisfaction I learn a little more and have to pin down another variable.
For example if I find an acceptable A/V unit now what about HD-DVD and DVI compatibility, not only for A/V units but for sources as well? Apparantly these features are around the corner but at what cost and when? It is almost as if asking about a transparent pass-thru is irrelevant.
Maybe I just came into this obsession at a time of substantial changes. Thanks, Bill
