If you get a high-end dvd player (Ayre, Krell, etc.) you will probably be best using the internal scaler. With a cheap unit it would seem prudent to use the projector's scaler (or else an outboard unit -- an expensive alternative but ultimately likely the best option). Of course, it'll depend on your projector quality as well.If you use a model such as I do (Samsung dvd player) then it just isn't that big of a deal either way in my experience (I use component outs to my sharp z10000 projector). If I finally upgrade to a fancy dvd player, I suspect it'll make more of a difference.
