disagree with them on. Thats regarding DD-EX and DTS-ES (both matrix and discrete). I have a second smaller home theater room in which I have a receiver equipped with the above formats (including Circle Surround II,which is TREMENDOUS on any stereo source,absolutely wipes the floor with DPII) but inparticular THX Surround EX. THX surround EX uses decorrelation on the back/sides surrounds to prevent collapse into the center back surround as sometimes happens with regular (early) EX. I set the receiver to "force" EX synthesis on all DD5.1 movies I watch as well as "forced" ES matrix on DTS movies. I've been quite pleased with the "extra" solidity and detail regarding placement of images in the rear in most movies. This in a system that already was capable of smooth,stable pans from L and R surrounds.
