It's only a half second, maybe a second max. My Pannie RP91 (list $800, street $450) does it, my Toshiba SD1200 ($200 way back then, probably $80 for a comparable player now) does it, they pretty much all do it. It's a very, very small price to pay for the greatly improved audio and video resolution vs. VHS ...
