Option 1) Go through the Yellow Pages and try to locate a good A/V consultant. He/she can walk you through everything and since most of the hard work is already done (internal wiring etc.) may only charge an hour or two for consulting.

Option 2) Make the connections yourself -- it really isn't that hard.

Option 3) Read the manual. Again, adjusting most of the settings isn't that tough.

As for your DVD question, a progressive scan machine is likely (but not guaranteed) to produce a better picture on your HDTV monitor.
