How much can you spend?

The new Hitachis are very nice-check out the 51S500 (51") and 57S500 (57"). Both have Hitachi's best CRT's-I've had last year's model (51SWX20B) since November and am totally pleased. Stereophile Guide to Home Theater stated the PQ of the Hitachi is comparable to the Pioneer Elite. The 51" can be had for around $2200 if you shop around, the 57" for around $2600.

If you want to go bleeding edge, personally, I'd look at the new DLP (digital light processing) sets. I think they have better contrast and blacks than plasmas, and cost a heck of lot less, too. You can get a 50" Samsung DLP set for around $3000.

Check out the attached link for everything video-lots of knowledgable folks and good info here. The "tweak" stuff I've gotten there has been invaluable.
