not unless the tv is equipped for multi-system playback

In all likelihood, the dvd player will output either pal (region2) or ntsc (region1) signals from the dvd's (I have one that was converted and outputs any region's signal that I bought in Singapore) but you'll need a tv that can use the various signals. It is fairly common to find in the UK tv's that will playback ntsc (US and Japan standard) signals on a pal system tv (UK standard) but you'll need a multi-system tv to do so playing pal. I don't recall seeing any ntsc tv's that playback pal signals. Another option is to buy on outboard converter that takes the pal signal and converts it to ntsc playback standard although these are often as expensive as multi-system tv's (and don't work all that well).

good luck.
