Question about my Yamaha Rxv1200 receiver

I read on one of these forums that HT receivers convert the analogue signal from a cd player to digital, then back to analogue. Is this true? Any Yamaha owners know if this machine does this? I'm pretty new to this HT stuff and respones would be greatly appreciated.
