I'm taking the plunge and buying an HDTV this week -- a 32" 4:3 direct view set, probably the Toshiba 32HF73. It's got both DVI and dual component inputs.I'm debating between getting a DVD player and building an HTPC. The front runner on the DVD player side is probably the Panasonic RP91, since it seems to get good reviews here, and is quite reasonably priced ($300).
What are the advantages and disadvantages of an HTPC, as compared with a player like the RP91? Ease of use isn't a huge deal, but capability and picture quality are.
Are there other DVD players I should be considering in the $300-400 range?
Thanks!
Dan
