Posted this in digital with no bites, so I'll try it here:
Got a question about Dolby/DTS digital cable length and jitter. Right now I am using a long component cable and short digital cable on my existing DVD/SACD player, which is not progressive. Working fine, but I want to improve my video quality.
I plan to add a second progressive DVD player, purchased solely on video performance, which may be placed near my RPTV. But the digital audio signal would then have to be fed back to my A/V rack via a 45' cable. Since this will be for H.T. audio playback only, not sure how critical the signal has to be.
I have already run a Belden 1695a coax cable with Canare RCAs for this, but the player (unknown for now) may have a toslink output. Since I have a spare Theta TLC unit that would convert toslink to coax, that's not a problem. Will the TLC in the front of the cable reduce any jitter, or should it/something else be added to the end of the cable? I an assuming that a converter will pass the DD/DTS signal correctly?
