Re: TURK 55 ANTENNA

I haven't tried the Turk 55 but I'd be curious to know how far away you are from the HDTV broadcast antennas. I'm about 15 miles away but with some obstructions between me and the transmitting towers on the high rise buildings in Denver. I was getting outstanding reception with just a partially assembled $22 UHF antenna from Radio Shack. Placing even a modest antenna outdoors will often outperform a more expensive amplified antenna in the attic. Running high quality 'quad shield' RG6U coax cable and keeping it somewhat short will also help.

You may have seen this picture in a previous post. The antenna is pointed at Denver for now. Now that the Lookout Mountain site has been approved, the broadcasters will eventually move their antennas from the Denver high rise buildings to the mountain top. You can see Lookout Mountain in the picture just behind the antenna pole. You will also notice that the antenna is not pointed at the mountains just yet as signals are still coming from downtown Denver.

Also check out the link below. I just happened to run into it and there's some talk about the TERK 55 antenna.
