If I remember the source, I'll point you to the article. I believe Maxell was one of the good brands.

According to this article, the cheap products produce lots of fine coasters, but aren't worth the time and hastle of all of the failed disks. One other consideration is the speed of the disk. Basically, according to the article, you have poor results (and lots more coasters) by trying to exceed the rated writing speed of disks.

Evidently the problems don't all show up immediately, some of the problems manifest themselves in the weeks following the recording.
