This'll give you quite a bit larger screen than 50" (80-90" is closer to what you can expect) and you'll need less than 6" of space for the display surface (depending how far out you want your screen to be... or just paint the wall itself with the paint most people are using for DIY screens).
The one big concession is you'll need to find a place for the projector. Most people are mounting them on the ceiling to keep them out of the way and to keep them stable. But if you want to read a ton of stuff about them, go to www.avsforum.com and check out the display devices forums. I usually read the sub $3500 Digital Projectors (there are a ton of great ones for well under $1500 including the Infocus X1 & Sanyo PLV-Z1) and the Screens forum. The latter is interesting as people are coming up with mixtures of paints (available from Home Depot, Lowe's, etc) that you can roll on to give just about the same picture quality that screens at the $500-1000 range provide.
It's worth reading up on at least. Don't be a slave to these plasma junkies... Plasmas are nice, but they're too damned expensive!
