remote fix

Make sure the batteries are new, clean the remote sensor on the television with a damp cloth and do the same on the remote itself. If that doesn't fix it, you can either buy one of the learning remotes (they're getting cheaper by the day) or one of the preprogrammed remotes.

Most of these will let you know which brands and types of components they will control on the back of the box. The learning remotes will learn the commands from your current remote. You might even use one of these to cut down on the amount of remotes you use by having it learn commonly used commands from them. The preprogrammed remotes have many codes built in from different manufacturers, but aren't able to learn commands from other remotes.

As always, check for compatibility first.
