AV Receiver as two channel only?

Maybe someone with a little more experience can help me with this one. I've got a few questions regarding the use of my AVR(JVC 8030). It's OVERated @130W per channel, but only the fronts are 20hz - 20Khz. The ctr and surrounds are 130W @1khz per channel. With rears being 130W@1Khz split in to two speakers.
It does have 5 channel discrete inputs for DVD-A which have connected via Toshiba 4800.
My question is this:
Because the JVC powers only the fronts at full range, would I be better off getting an amp to power the ctr and surrounds?
This would then leave the JVC to 2ch stereo and controlling functions only.
Thanks for your replys.
