I’m making the familiar move from stereo to HT, and like others I want to keep the stereo music sound I have now and integrate it into the HT for simplicity and convenience. What HT receiver, new or used, for (as far) under $500 (as possible) would help me to do this?Current stereo set-up is vintage but very smooth and musical: B&K ST-202 amp, Denon PRA-1000, Sony 7AES CD player, and my speakers are Norh DIY 6.5s in the old wood drums.
I believe that I would like an HT receiver that has pre-outs that would let me continue to use the ST-202 to drive the Nohrs (front L/R), but would also give me the best of the fun stuff that HT receivers offer for movies and music. (I have a center with the same Vifa tweeter as the Nohrs, and I’m experimenting with rear speakers.)
So, two questions:
1. What’s the HT receiver for my purposes?
2. Am I being too fussy here? Would a more recent, inexpensive Denon or Marantz (or other) receiver do the musical job by itself as well as my vintage rig?Any help? Advice?
.
