I have a pair of monitor audio studio 6 speakers used as front and in the back a couple of studio 2's.At the moment I use my setup more as hifi installation as for home cinema.
I didnt spent so much money on a A/V reciever but have a decent stereo amp.
My CD player is connected to the stereo amp while the DVD is connected to the A/V reciever which is in his turn connected by the pre out to the stereo amp. So the front is always coming from the stereo amp while the A/V reciever feed the back-speakers.As a sub Im using a REL Strata II which is connected on high level to the B-speakers on the stereo amp (I can switch on or off as I wish) and on low level to the A/V reciever (were the gain is a little higher for more effect in movies).
This setup works very well for me and gave me lots of flexibility and enjoyment.
