The LDS-2 is legendary but was surpassed by the 404, 79, 95, amd 97
in terms of both sound and picture quality (some of these had Dolby Digital (then called "AC-3") as well). Of course NOTHING comes close to the build quality of the LDS-2. But the players I cite offer both side play and some play CDs, two features the LDS-2 lacks.
I don't believe that the Pinoeer combi player (LDs and DVDs) are as good as the player I cite above.
