Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

Well, I switched to Dish because of the free HD receiver.

It took only a few "A/B" sessions to figure out satellite was no better than Charter digital cable in terms of PQ. I was disappointed because a few friends were adamant that satellite was sooooo much better than cable. But at least now I know the differences having been able to do a direct comparison in the home.

Charter had the better HD selection (if you can call 8 channels a better "selection" than 5-6 channels). This has just convinced me to get an OTA antenna.

The saving grace for Dish is the OTA tuner and a DVI output so I can avoid the need for a component switcher for a little while longer. I also liked the (SD) dual-tuner receiver to feed 2 TVs from one receiver.
