"Sound" options for the Denon DVD-5900

165.6.7.146

Post below by Abe and Ken (kmmd) regarding setup for optimal sound quality is something I'd like to see discussed a bit more at length.
Our DVD-5900 goes through an Audio Refinement Pre2DSP, which has gotten accolades for superior "pass-through" performance. So many
DACs, so little....and this is without even opening up the firewire/D-link debate.
We did setup for surround, have ONE DVD-A surround disk, ELP's Brain Salad Surgery, on third time through last weekend, whooooaaa, if only we'd had this back in college in the 70's, I would've gotten even less done...
had to go back to school for a real education as it was :-0

We've played around with both options and haven't decided which WE find preferable and would certainly enjoy hearing other experiences.

Can I be elitist and say that I think the better ears are over hear(sic)?
