I have a dilema of sorts. I need to get a tv to replace the Sony 36 inch (4 : 3, 6 yrs old )in my living room which is relatively small (18 x 14) I am in a NYC apt which has lots of windows and very bright with sunlight for most of the day. My budget is around $3000-3500. The only plasma that I've seen that I like are the Sony XBR's which are currently out of my price range. I was contemplating getting a Sony XBR 34 inch direct view 16: 9 but heard that they are perhaps a dying breed, thought the picture has been awesome when I was in Circuit City. The other two being considered are the Sony Grand Wega 42 inch and the Samsung DLP. However, I heard the 3rd gen. DLP chips are much improved, has anyone seen one of these sets? I don't really want a tv larger than 50 inches and smaller than 40 but if all else fails, I would go with the 34 inch direct view I guess. Are there any others I should audition? We look at mostly cable so I wanted something that would show analog sources fairly well. Thanks for any input.
