I too frequent my local Radio Shack stores when "good is good enough” Their splitters probably are, as many of their products. But I replaced older Archer/RS rf amps with the Channel Vision unit, and got better results. CV claims a lower S/N radio on their amps. I've read Channel Plus is also a quality brand. And forget about low pass filters or digital modulators to combine video signal at Radio Shack, they don't have a clue. Channel Vision techs, on the other hand, will help you set up an entire video distrubution system, right over the phone. That’s my biggest problem with RS. Many times I have taken an item off their web site, and inquired at the local B&M store, using their terminology, and have received blank stares from the sales people. Don't even ask them about High Def...They will tell you nothing is worth watching or available, or try to sell you the wrong antenna.
At least that's been the experience I've had in my area...YMMV.
