At that price level it's probably best to go for an all in one "home theater in a box". As for the sub you will just have to experiment as all rooms and subs are different. Generally, however, it is not a good idea to place it behind you.When you set up, make sure all speakers are equi-distant from the listening/viewing position and set them all to the same volume level using the built in circulating test tones. If you are lucky enough to have or borrow a sound level meter use 75 db as the reference point.
The hardest part will be integrating the subwoofer in the sound mix.
