New antenna is up. Arr arr arr (Tim Allen pig voice).

Picked up a new antenna, a new rotator, new coax, new fittings etc. All from Radio Shack, total cost approx $250. Installed it all myself. Pretty hot crawling around on the roof too.

Before, when using my old antenna I could barely receive the HD over-the-air signals from Atlanta 50 miles away. Now the stations are all pegging the digital signal meters at 75 to 95%. Of course there still isn't much HDTV progamming on but I'm darned sure ready for those college football games. So, with my Dish Network HD receiver, and with basic cable I should be able to get pretty much everything.

And another reason I needed to install a new rotator is for FM radio. I can swing that sucker around and get many stations over in Alabama. The FM stations are booming in now.

(Btw, the pecan tree limbs and leaves aren't as close to the antenna as they appear in this pic. The antenna will turn a full 360 degrees in the clear but I'll need to get some trimmed in the future.)
