I got a Sony 51" rear-projection CRT HDTV just before they started coming with DVI. Will Sony or anyone else retrofit DVI to it? I guess my reasoning is that:1) It will give better quality image -- of course this would only be true if the signal stayed in the digital domain for all processing.
2) HDTV boxes for cable or satelite will start having HDMI or DVI outputs. It is rumored that this will be the only way of getting the highest resolution outputs -- you will never get native 1080i or 720p out of the component -- it will be downsampled to prevent people sampling the high-quality signal.
Or, am I just going to have to buy a new TV when this digital stuff settles down?
Thanks,
Neil
