Toshiba CF32C50-Picture Problems

141.157.81.223

I have a Toshiba CF32C50 32" TV. The picture display has been malfunctioning for over 1 year. The problem occurs when the TV is first turned on. The picture which appears is simple a horizontal libe across the width of the screen. I must pound on the top of the set, which causes the line to shake and eventually open to the full screen. It is a nuisance to do this every time I want to watch TV.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what may be the cause of the problem, and how difficult the fix would be. The TV is around 8 years old, and I may just get a new one. It is extremely heavy and I would like an idea of whether it is worth repairing before I lug it to a repair shop. It almost seems it would be a simple fix, like something is "stuck" and needs to be loosened (or ponded on). If it is a simple fix I might even try to fix it myself. It is an older TV and I wouldn't be too upset if I couldn't get it working again.

I appreciate any ideas on what may be the problem.

Thanks,
John
