If the images are long and skinny, it sounds like you may have the DVD player set to 16:9 Display in the Set-Up menu, while viewing on a 4:3 display. Set the player to 4:3 Letterbox and this should correct the problem.Or...
Can your display do split-screen? I have an older Sony big-screen display and when it does split-screen, everything gets stretched vertically. Maybe you have this enabled on the component input and that's why you see two images.
