Re: Phantom center w/o center speaker sounds better?

Have you tried sitting at the most off-axis viewing position of your display, and playing a movie with lots of center dialog (the majority)? If this works for you than you're lucky, as I would think this is a simpler setup. Is your center the same height as your mains?

With my center sitting on top of my 64" RPTV, it is way higher than the L/Rs. I tried the phantom mode hoping for great results, but wasn't able to due to presently owned non-shielded speakers and a large wide viewing area.
