Try the ilo DVDR04 at Wal-Mart.

It's $149, records on DVD+R/+RW discs, a 4-pin DV input on the front panel and has some other features that you may or may not need. If you don't like it, Wal-Mart is pretty nice about returns.

I picked one up the other night, but I didn't have a 4-pin to 4-pin firewire cable. I just got one (6ft cable from tigerdirect.com for $8), so I'll be trying it out soon. The Sony D8 camcorder I bought in 2000 is not a High-End model by any means, but it will allow a digital transfer through the i.link port.
