Re: Connecting all my toys

Don't feel bad Randy. It took me about a year before I had all the connections and settings right with my first digital receiver. I'm looking at a poor picture of the back panel of yours right now and it looks like it has one coaxial input and one optical input near the top, just left of center. It is only the audio that is passed through these inputs, no video at all. As far as I know, an HDMI connection is the only one that will pass both.

You might just have to enable the digital output from your dvd and cd player. Look in the audio menus and play with the settings for digital audio. It's really hard to see but it looks like the receiver's inputs are just named "Coax" and "Opt". This might mean that they're assignable in the receiver's settings. If you already took care of that then it might just be a faulty receiver. This is all I can help without actually seeing being there. Good luck.
