A/V Amp-Receiver, Speaker Compatibility

My brother is buying Definitive Technology home theatre speakers priced at around 600 bucks or so. They don't require too much power and he has a small space in which to set them up. What A/V amps or receivers would be a good match for this speaker system? I believe he wants to spend between 600 and 900 bucks. Thanks.
