In Reply to: How can we make regular analog cable signal look it's best with HDTVs? NT posted by Scholl on November 30, 2004 at 04:52:34:
I've done a lot of research on HDTV and several places have said that analog cable will definitely look worse on an HDTV. Apparently the TV will clearly show everything that's in the signal, including all of the crap that we didn't really notice before. I have a 32" analog Panasonic Gaoo that got demoted to secondary duties by a Sony 34" Widescreen HDTV. Analog cable channels look not-so-great on the Panasonic and look like total poop on the Sony, but the digital channels look way better on the Sony. I think we just have to stick it out and wait a year or so for analog to get phased out. My local cable provider (Cogeco) has just removed the movie channels from the basic analog package. They're trying to get people to go digital as soon as possible. So to answer your question, as far as I know that's the best it will get.
